Tennis Racquets
There are a bunch of places that you can go to buy tennis racquets. Shops like Big 5, Sports Authority, Sports Basement, and Dick's Sporting Goods are a few that come to mind. These are all big box stores and they buy in volume; which means they carry most of the discontinued products that manufacturers just want to get rid of. If you are just starting and don't know if you want to commit $100+ on a new tennis racquet, then these are the places you can go.
If you want CURRENT, in line racquets and products, you'll have to go to a specialty shop. City Racquet Shop and Golden Gate Tennis are great PRO shops that offers a demo program with expert advice regarding anything tennis. The SFTC pro shop is also a good place for people who are members at the club.
Tennis Shoes
CRS carry Babolat, Wilson, and Head tennis shoes, and GST carries Asics; which is a bummer because those brands are not inclusive of everyone's foot shapes. I would NOT recommend going to any of the big box stores for shoes mainly because most of the time the staff will not know what they are talking about.
Do your research on what types of shoes you need based on foot shape and past injuries(if any), and go to an outlet store. Or Amazon.
Tennis Apparel
Anywhere is good, as long as what you buy is comfortable and you like how it looks on you.
